As a service economy, Panama has to ensure that their consumers are protected, whilst safeguarding and/or restricting companies from antitrust practices, thus, in 1996, the country created an entity to deal with consumer claims and ensure that antitrust practices are forbidden and penalized.
This entity (ACODECO), has become a significant aid to the judicial system, by settling most consumer related claims and monopolistic charges.
Our attorneys have successfully represented both consumers and companies before the Consumer Protection and Competition Defense Authority.
